SAVAGE Hero Creator: Paul Nicklen

We are thrilled to announce world-acclaimed nature photographer Paul Nicklen as a Hero Creator & advisor to SAVAGE.

Paul is a Canadian photographer, filmmaker, and marine biologist who has documented the beauty of the Earth for over twenty years and lives a life of art, purpose, and adventure while being an advocate for conservation efforts.

Having served as an assignment photographer for National Geographic magazine and Sony Artisan of Imagery, Paul has captured the imagination of a global audience with his creative work and is one of the world’s most recognized polar specialists and conservationists.

Paul is passionate about his work of documentary photography to inform and create an emotional connection with wild subjects in extreme conditions. His work delivers audiences to an underwater realm that is rarely witnessed and helps raise awareness for the importance of conserving our planet.

He is the co-founder of a nonprofit conservation society, SeaLegacy, and his professional work has garnered over 30 of the highest awards given to any photographer in his field, including the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year and the prestigious World Press Photo for Photojournalism. SeaLegacy inspires millions of people to have a voice for the pristine places that Paul has been fortunate to document but are threatened by climate change.

Paul is widely recognized by the conservation community for his work especially for his nonprofit’s efforts in ocean conservation, and he has even been bestowed an honorary PhD at the University of Victoria for the impact his creative work has had on climate change awareness.
