The SAVAGE team is pleased to note all of our recent press coverage, such as in CoinMarketCap, CryptoDaily, Cointelegraph, Investing.com, Yahoo Finance, and DailyHODL among many others.

Many in the cryptosphere are noticing our strong commitment to not only being carbon-neutral, but also our efforts to highlight the eco-friendly possibilities of NFTs.

Last week, we featured Paul Nicklen — a Canadian filmmaker, marine biologist, and photographer who’s worked with leading brands such as National Geographic for over twenty years in documenting the beauty of the planet and being an advocate for conservation efforts.

Despite having stunningly high-quality 8K video footage of his work, Paul had been dissuaded from getting involved in the NFT space due to their negative connotation and environmental impact.

This negative environmental impact of NFTs is at odds with his personal values and efforts to conserve nature, including the work done through his nonprofit conservation society, SeaLegacy.

According to Memo Atken’s research, the carbon footprint of an average single-edition NFT is equivalent to driving a petrol car for 1,000 km. Additionally, one artist that was researched minted an NFT collection that over the span of six months had a carbon footprint of 260-megawatt hours, which is the equivalent of powering the average home in the EU for 77 years.

SAVAGE has built their platform on Polygon’s proof-of-stake blockchain and has partnered with the Crypto Climate Accord and EnergyWeb to create an NFT marketplace that leaves a far smaller carbon footprint. This has helped Paul to feel more confident in not only getting involved in NFTs, but also in being an ambassador for the SAVAGE platform and our conservation efforts.

Thanks to the support from Crypto Climate Accord and Energy Web in managing carbon combined with the less energy-intensive Polygon proof-of-stake blockchain, SAVAGE has been able to design the world’s first carbon-neutral NFT marketplace for the highest-resolution 8K video and photography, allowing artists like Paul to not only share their highest quality work and receive high creator payouts, but to also play a part in reducing the carbon footprint of the NFT and crypto ecosystems.

SAVAGE is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of the NFT industry by creating the SAVAGE marketplace and partnering with eco-conscious creators such as Paul, and to being held accountable in this goal by measuring every transaction on the marketplace with tools built with our partnership with Crypto Climate Accord.
